Opposite Lauderdale House Sphinx is St Annes church which recently underwent refurbishment both internally and externally. It is a beautiful space that is used by local community groups and religious groups. If you get the chance go inside.

This statue is on the parapet of the imposing Lauderdale House at the north end of the High Street. A sphinx has the haunches of a lion, the wings of a large bird and a human face which in Greek tradition is a woman.
Lauderdale House is formally a Barracks and is often mistaken to be Dunbar castle by visitors.
